Summertime is internship time at 1&1!

This is a guest post written by our interns.

Internship at 1&1The internship at 1&1 Internet Development is a great opportunity for students to participate in a first-rate, hands-on experience. We felt the thrill of working in a big international company, being part of a powerful network of developers, managers, and executives.

The duration of the internship is either 3 or 4.5 months. The program is based on a rotation system and gives us the chance to work within several departments, under the guidance of a “buddy”. He supervises our work, provides us with advice and professional mentoring. Each one of us has the possibility to choose whether to stay with the current department or move to the next one for the same period of time. So far, we got halfway through the internship and these are some of our impressions:

Octavian: This internship gave me the chance to learn a lot of things, I have seen all the stages of a software product development and I have seen all the roles required for a development team to be successful. My time spent at 1&1 really did change my idea of a workplace. I never thought that someone could come to work every day feeling so great about it. I look forward to spending my three remaining internship months working alongside skilled developers in a friendly and full of opportunities working environment.

Dan: My name is Dan Coconetu and my dream is to become one hell of an I.T consultant. In order to create a better frame to withhold my dream, I have decided to fill some of my technical gaps by applying to an internship position at 1&1, so here I am. After one month in the company, I can truthfully say that I made the right decision and I am looking forward for the experience gained in the next three months.

Roxana: My name is Roxana and I am an intern at WebHosting Applications. I like Java programming and I want to learn to code Android applications and I am willing to work very hard to achieve that. The internship has been a worthwhile experience and I know that in the end, I will be prepared well for my professional career. 1&1 has a great work environment and I hope in the future I’ll be an employee.

Stefan: This internship is my first working experience for me and it gave me an inside view on how an IT company really works, and on a smaller scale how a team of developers work. The working atmosphere is great, which came as a surprise for me and made it very easy to get accommodated after a short while. It is great to see that team members are always willing to help me if I am stuck with a problem or something isn’t working the way it is supposed to. I also got to meet and know a lot of people and it was exciting to see how they organize their work. The 1&1 internship gave me a clearer view on my future career plans.

Alexandru: Hi, my name is Andronic Alexandru and i’m glad to be a part of 1and1 internship program, where I’ve met awesome people and learned a lot of things. There is no doubt that, at the end of this internship I will have new knowledge on QA testing part and not only. Overall, 1and1 was a great experience for me.

Cristina: I am very happy I had the chance to work in a professional environment with people who are willing to help you. The experience gained here went beyond my expectations, as I had the opportunity to learn new things and develop a better organized thinking inside the JavaScript department, in RAIN team, as well as understanding how the company works as a whole.

Catalin: Hello, everybody! My name is Catalin Ramascanu and I have been part of the Domains Registration Team for about 1 month and a half. I consider myself very lucky to be part of the this wonderfull team. They have been very helpful and have been a great resource for learning new things about software development. I believe that 1&1 has been the right choice for me and I hope that in the near future I will have a permanent job here at the blue company.

Cosmin: Hello, I’m Cosmin, I’m in the 3rd year at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and I’m an intern in the eBusiness Applications department as a QA Trainee. I believe that the QA a field is also an important one for the software development and I see myself developing a career in this domain.
