Internship at 1&1 Internet Development – The Start of Your Career
Summertime is internship time at 1&1. Internships are a particularly useful recruitment tool in our industry, where the competition for top talent is very strong. The internship at 1&1 Internet Development is a great opportunity for students to participate in a first-rate, hands-on experience.
In Bucharest we aim to develop an ongoing partnership with IT-related Universities.
This year we have a partnership with The Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Is this Right for You?
To be an intern in 1&1 Internet Development you have to be in your last year of studies or recently graduated; within 1&1 you’ll be engaged in a flex-time job for a limited period of time from one to six months. You are not required to have work experience, as you will sign in an Internship Agreement mentioning that your competency level is as beginner.
Our internship program runs from June to August and involves: Development (4 positions), Internal Marketing (1 position), Project Management (1 position) and Quality Assurance (1 position). All seven positions imply working closely with senior team leaders six hours/day, Monday to Friday.
What to expect from 1&1 Internet Development Internship
A “mentor” from each team assigns work to the interns, supervises their work and provides them advice and guidance in order to help them decide about the future career. We consider our interns as an integral part of 1&1. They are treated as employees and expected to make a real contribution to the business, while receiving the training and feedback to help them do so. The interns are given tasks similar to those given to a junior employee.
We offer our interns the opportunity to gain professional work experience, as they learn about the specific issues involved in our work, receive professional mentoring, and also establish a professional network meanwhile having the chance to participate in the implementation of our projects.
At the end of the program, interns will meet their mentors to evaluate their performance and identify the skills they need to develop. Therefore, their academic studies will be more relevant.
What others are saying
Annually, over two-thirds of interns at 1&1 rejoin the company as employees when they complete their studies. Last year out of 7 students from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, who finished our internship program, two got hired.
Here’s what interns had to say about our program:
“I am very happy with my teammates. If I have any doubt or get stuck while coding, the colleagues are always willing to help me.” (Claudiu)
“The internship program has lived up to my expectations so far. I’ve learned about all the roles in the company, and what it takes to produce great software. As an intern I saw that everybody is willing to teach you and give you a chance to prove yourself. And the most important thing for me was discovering my passion for Project Management. I am now determined to work hard and build a career in this field. Overall, the internship has been a big step forward and the best learning experience I’ve had so far.” (Andrei)
“Quality assurance was a new subject for me when I came to 1&1, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that ‘fighting’ bugs is a very interesting work, which is also indispensable in a software company.”(Dana)
“I consider myself lucky for having the opportunity to learn new and interesting things, and to be part of the ‘blue team’. Also, because of this internship, I now have a clearer view on the future steps I want to take in my career.” (Marius)
“I am now convinced more than ever that I want to work as a software developer.” (Ciprian)
“I’m glad that I had the chance to be a trainee here, and I hope in the future I’ll be an employee.” (Marian)
