As so-called LTS version (Long Term Support), the Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS offers regular updates for a period of 5 years. The 1&1 Server customers who choose the Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS benefit from a maximum number of services, security and stability until 2017. New versions of Ubuntu appear every six months, but they are supported only 18 months with all the required updates. In contrast, the LTS versions are released only every second year.

Besides the long term support, Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS offers our server customers many improvements, such as the revised Linux-Kernel in the current version 3.2.6, latest software tools and many further improvements for professional server performances. The Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS completes the still offered version Ubuntu 10.04 LTS within the 1&1 offer and can be selected from the server administration in 1&1 Control-Center to be installed.
